Martin Tom, M.D., is a radiation oncologist at Miami Cancer Institute. Dr. Tom specializes in treating thoracic (lung), central nervous system (brain and spine) and pediatric cancers. He joined Miami Cancer Institute from the Cleveland Clinic, where he completed his radiation oncology residency and served as a clinical instructor at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. He is the recipient of multiple awards, including the Cleveland Clinic Jerrold P. Saxton Award for Clinical Excellence, the NRG Oncology New Investigator Travel Award and the RSNA Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award.Dr. Tom is passionate about clinical investigation and discovering better cancer treatments for patients. During his residency, he obtained specialized training in clinical trial development and was selected to attend the RSNA Clinical Trials Methodology Workshop. In addition to publishing numerous scientific manuscripts and book chapters, Dr. Tom also helped develop several national consensus statements and continues to participate in expert committees publishing treatment guidelines. Dr. Tom's goal is to treat each patient as a unique individual and as if they are part of his family. He strives to develop a personal relationship with each patient and values communication to help them and their family members understand each aspect of treatment. When he is not treating patients, Dr. Tom enjoys spending time outdoors and exploring new restaurants with his family.

Her post-doctoral training includes a general surgery residency at Guthrie Clinic in Pennsylvania, a breast oncology surgery fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City and a surgical oncology fellowship in minimally invasive techniques at the European Institute of Oncology in Italy. Working in other countries and learning from various cultures has helped Dr. Tousimis connect with a diverse range of people and build trust that is central to the doctor-patient relationship. Having empathy and responding with compassion are her primary patient care skills, which she says are necessary for providing personalized care that meets her patients’ needs and goals. During her free time, Dr. Tousimis cherishes spending quality time with her family, and they often enjoy participating in outdoor sports and traveling together.
