Fort Foster State Historic Site is a reproduction of a fort originally established in 1836 during the Second Seminole War, serving as a strategic defense point and resupply location for U.S. soldiers. Today, visitors can explore the site and watch living-history demonstrations that illustrate the daily life of those stationed at the fort, including annual reenactment events celebrating this unique part of Florida's heritage.

The site is part of Hillsborough River State Park and features an Interpretive Center displaying artifacts related to the fort and the conflict between the Seminole Nation and U.S. military forces. Additionally, the park offers various recreational opportunities, including trails for bicycles, horses, and on foot, ensuring a rich experience of both nature and history for all visitors.
