Through his research, he strives to identify new diagnostic and treatment options for genitourinary cancers, improve patient recovery after surgery and enhance his patients’ quality of life.Understanding that he often meets patients during significantly stressful moments, Dr. Ozambela takes time to talk through diagnoses and treatment options. Through excellent communication and shared decision-making, he works with his patients to create treatment plans that reflect their individual goals. Miguel A. Medina III, M.D., is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon and director of microsurgery at Miami Cancer Institute at Baptist Health South Florida. Dr. Medina specializes in complex reconstruction and microsurgery, utilizing specialized operating microscopes and precision instrumentation to perform intricate procedures such as the reconnection of nerves, muscles and blood vessels. Prior to joining Miami Cancer Institute, Dr. Medina specialized in craniofacial and reconstructive microsurgery at Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Fla. He is an innovator in his field, with numerous invited national and international presentations, instructional courses and lectures. He also is a distinguished clinical educator, serving as clinical assistant professor of surgery at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Medina has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and serves as a reviewer for three scientific journals, including the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery.
