Julia Bisschops, M.D., MSc, is a board-certified family medicine physician at Baptist Health Primary Care | FIU. She serves as a patient's primary point of contact for healthcare and provides services such as preventive care, diagnosis and treatment of acute illnesses and injuries, chronic disease management and medication management. In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Bisschops is an associate professor of medical education at FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. Dr. Bisschops is fluent in English, Dutch and German.

Shweta Akhouri, M.D., is a board-certified family medicine and obesity medicine physician at Baptist Health Primary Care | FIU. She specializes in primary care, obesity medicine, population health and women’s health. In addition to treating patients at FIU Health, Dr. Akhouri serves as clerkship director of family medicine and associate professor of medical education at FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. She also oversees student community household visits through the Green Family Foundation Neighborhood Health Education Learning Program (NeighborhoodHELP). Dr. Akhouri is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Obesity Medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine and serves as a regional leader for the American Medical Women’s Association. Dr. Akhouri earned her medical degree at St. Matthews University School of Medicine in Grand Cayman and completed a family medicine residency at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. As an obesity medicine physician, Dr. Akhouri strives to offer care that is free from bias and stigma, ensuring a supportive environment for all patients. Her goal is to build long-lasting relationships based on trust and empower patients to play an active role in their healthcare. Dr. Akhouri is fluent in English and Hindi. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling and reading fiction.

Gloria Coronel-Couto, M.D., FACP, is a board-certified internal medicine physician at Baptist Health Primary Care | FIU. She specializes in preventive medicine, acute illnesses and injuries, chronic disease management and medication management. In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Coronel-Couto teaches and advises medical students at all levels and motivates them to establish a desire for lifelong learning. She serves as clerkship assistant director and assistant professor of internal medicine at FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. In her role as the clerkship assistant director, she is responsible for coordinating clerkship sites, teaching students and evaluating their performance. Dr. Coronel-Couto earned her medical degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine after earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at FIU Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing & Health Sciences. She went on to serve as chief resident during her internal medicine residency at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Jackson Memorial Hospital. She is a fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Coronel-Couto is committed to providing high-quality care and ensuring patient safety through the prevention of medical errors. She spends quality time with her patients, treats them how she would want to be treated and ensures that all their questions are answered. Dr. Coronel-Couto is fluent in English and Spanish. During her spare time, she enjoys going to the beach and taking long walks.
