Nicole Carreau, MD

Dr. Richard Frank serves as the system chief of clinical and translational cancer research for Nuvance Health. He oversees clinical cancer trials across the health system, including original research in pancreatic cancer. He also is the Nancy J. and Eugene P. Beard Endowed Chair in Cancer Research at Nuvance Health, reflecting his remarkable contributions to cancer care and research. Dr. Frank has more than 30 years of experience as a medical oncologist/hematologist and specializes in pancreatic, gastrointestinal and genitourinary cancers such as prostate, kidney and bladder cancer as well as lymphoma and multiple myeloma. Dr. Frank has held academic leadership roles and served as a fellow and attending physician at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He is a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, received The Humanitarian Award from the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society and is the author of the book for patients, "Fighting Cancer with Knowledge and Hope" (Yale University Press, 2013). Caryn Ecker, MSN, ACNP, joined Nuvance Health and the Whittingham Cancer Center in 2017. She is an acute care nurse practitioner and is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She focuses specifically on oncology. She completed her master's of science in nursing and graduated with honors from New York University in 2010. Caryn works in the oncology clinic setting, seeing patients with a variety of cancers. She works closely with a team of dedicated doctors and clinicians to help cancer patients and their families understand their treatment options and plans. Caryn is dedicated to providing patient-centered care to oncology patients and building strong relationships through open communication. Her goal is to truly get to know her patients to personalize their care by incorporating their needs and goals into the treatment plan. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, running after her 6-year-old twins, skiing and taking hikes in the beautiful Fairfield County.

Shaira Cohen, MSN, FNP, is certified by The American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She has a particular interest in breast and gynecological cancers. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, she dedicated her professional nursing practice to chemotherapy administration and patient education at Nuvance Health. Shaira chose her specialty because she loves teaching as much as she loves nursing. An enthusiastic learner, Shaira is known for her compassionate care. She wants each patient to feel that their voice is heard and their health is well cared for. The most important thing her patients can expect from her is integrity. She strives to make a positive impact by educating her patients on the importance of early detection in disease prevention. Shaira was born in Argentina and speaks fluent Spanish and English. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, dancing and traveling.
