Southwest Colorado Mental Health Center, established in 1960, is a private, nonprofit corporation that provides mental health services to people of all ages. It provides various health care services, such as clinical, emergency, day treatment, case management, residential and vocational services. It also offers various other services, such as medical, substance abuse counseling and treatment, and youth and family support services. Its outpatient therapy services include counseling, diagnosis and treatment of various mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, obsessive and compulsive disorders, trauma and various behavioral issues for children and adolescents. San Juan Basin Health Department has been providing health care solutions to the southwest Colorado community for more than 55 years. The department offers various immunization programs for children, adults, and international travelers, including hepatitis A and B, meningitis, polio, yellow fever, rabies, typhoid, and diphtheria. Its health care program for children with special needs offers services to children suffering from physical, developmental, behavioral and emotional disabilities. It provides services through neurological and rehabilitation clinics. Through its Lasso Tobacco Coalition, the department holds quarterly public meetings on tobacco prevention and education. It also organizes counseling and seminars for substance abuse prevention. Located in Durango, Colo., the department also issues birth and death certificates.
