Harker School, founded in 1893 and located in San Jose, Calif., is a coeducational, nonsectarian, college preparatory school. It provides education to students in grades kindergarten to 12. The school has various divisions, such as upper, middle and lower schools. Its curriculum includes language arts, math, science, social studies, computer science, visual arts and physical education. The school has an academic counseling department that provides academic, emotional and social support for students. It offers counseling programs on various issues, such as self-esteem, problem solving, conflict management, communication skills, parental divorce, and grief and loss. The school also provides variety of facilities, including a tennis court, library, playground and gymnasium. The school is approved by the California Association of Independent Schools and Colleges and National Association of Independent Schools.
