Stockton Bukkyo Taiko, an affiliate organization of the Buddhist Church of Stockton, was established in 1990 by Reverend David Matsumoto to incorporate Buddhist teachings into an enjoyable practice through taiko drumming. Open to both church members and the public, the group offers classes for recreational and performing members, showcasing their talents at various cultural and community events.
With a repertoire that includes performances at festivals, fundraisers, and celebrations, Stockton Bukkyo Taiko also supports the Stockton Buddhist Temple through their rhythmic taiko drumming.
