Namaste Doula

History

After having attended childbirth and breastfeeding classes prior to the birth of my first daughter, I expected that labor wouldn't be a big deal. I thought I could handle the pain of labor using simple breathing techniques. When the big day came, I had no idea what I was in for. It was an amazing experience, and my husband was my strength and support, but it was much more intense than I expected, and I never really understood what was happening in the hospital room and with my body. I had never even heard of a doula at that point, but looking back I realize it would have made a world of difference in my daughter's birth. After attending a couple of other births, I was amazed at the process, and decided that I wanted to help other mothers enjoy their labors confidently and with as little intervention as possible. With every birth I attend, I gain more knowledge and am more amazed by the beautiful, empowering birth process, and by the utter strength that each woman discovers within.
