Los Angeles County Law Library is an independent public agency, which was established in 1891 under a California statute. It has a collection of more than 700,000 volumes, making it one of the largest law libraries in the United States. In addition to printed materials, it also provides audio, microform and CD-ROM materials. The library provides various services, including interlibrary loan, foreign and international law library, reference and online services, and document delivery. Los Angeles County Law Library has branch libraries throughout the state, including the courthouses in Compton, Long Beach, Norwalk, Pasadena, Pomona, Santa Monica, Torrance and Van Nuys. It is governed by the Board of Trustees of the Los Angeles County Law Library, consisting of five superior court judges, the chairman of the board of supervisors, and one member of the local bar appointed by the board of supervisors. It is located in Los Angeles, Calif.
