Lela Coaching

History

Lela started teaching ballroom dance in Los Angeles, CA during her competitive ballroom dance career. She coached at home in the US as well as abroad in Europe and Asia. After retiring from competitive dancing, Lela moved to New York City where she continued coaching ballroom dance on a competitive level, while also expanding her repertoire to special events as a stylist and wedding dance choreographer. Lela's affinity for studying the relationship that ballroom dance represents led her to receive her bachelor of science in Communication and professional certification in health coaching. Moving back to California, she has continued to work with both singles and couples, in private coaching and group workshops, in the relational dynamics of dance and how it applies to intimacy and the art of relationship.

Specialties

Lela specializes in coaching couples for their wedding dance as well as those who want to take their dancing to a performance or competitive level. With over fifteen years of experience, coaching a wide range of levels and ages, she enjoys teaching anyone who wants to learn - even if they have two left feet. Lela believes that partner dancing is, first and foremost, about a relationship; the balance and communication between two people. Her priority is to help each couple express their relationship through movement with an understanding of how the polar roles of leader and follower play a dynamic game of harmony.
