Welcome to Hartnell CollegeHartnell College is a comprehensive community college that serves the entire Salinas Valley in Monterey County, California. The College was founded in 1920 and renamed in 1948 to perpetuate the name of William E. P. Hartnell, founder of California's first post-secondary educational institution. Today, as we enter our ninth decade of service to the community, the sense of energy, commitment and willingness to push the limits of how and where we deliver education remains as strong as ever.Students come to Hartnell for many reasons: some come to obtain an associate degree, some to obtain or update vocational skills, and others plan to transfer to a four-year college or to a university. As a California community college, we have the responsibility to offer quality education to anyone who can benefit from instruction.With change as dramatic as it is today, Hartnell College is focused on inventing our future, and bringing all of our resources to bear in helping our students shape their dreams. We will continue to explore new and better ways to serve our students and our community.
