43 years ago a really good friend taught me the trade. In those days everyone was taught a far more demanding protocol. I installed for several years and then went into retail before returning to become a union supervisor for some of the casino jobs in Reno and Vegas. In the 80s opened a profitable retail store. Now I'm semi-retired. And do just repair work, I'm busy just enough.

We specialize in carpet repair and custom carpet installations. It is very difficult to find experienced, trained carpet technicians today. Take for instance the important step of the proper stretching of carpet during an installation. A whole protocol exists that very few know about and fewer still take the time to do correctly. Much more has to be done than just getting the carpet to lay flat. It needs to be actually stretched, like a rubber band. In the fine print of the warranty that comes with almost all carpets now days, it will plainly state that the warranty is invalid if the carpet has not been power stretched. And it is easy for any experienced factory inspector to ascertain whether or not it has been done properly. In regards to the repairing of carpet, it takes many years to do most repair well and permanetly. I have 42 of those years and I guarantee my work. Gary D Myers
