Friends of Corte Madera Creek Watershed is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the natural ecosystems of the Corte Madera Creek watershed in Kentfield, CA. They work to increase public awareness and knowledge of the watershed's ecosystems, improve water quality, restore and maintain clean, healthy creeks, and preserve and restore wetlands. Through hands-on projects, informational programs, and collaboration with local governments and public agencies, Friends of Corte Madera Creek Watershed strives to advocate for policies that benefit natural ecosystems and promote creek-friendly practices among residents and businesses. The Corte Madera Creek watershed, located in the rugged Coast Range just north of San Francisco, encompasses several communities including Fairfax, San Anselmo, Kentfield, and Larkspur. With a population of 55,000, the valley floor is densely populated while the elevation increases towards publicly-owned ridge land. The organization was founded in 1994 in response to a report on the impaired conditions of the creek and its habitat, and has since been actively working towards the protection and restoration of the watershed's natural resources.
