The Catalina Island Conservancy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and restoring the unique environment of Catalina Island. As the oldest and largest private land trust in California, it promotes ecological sustainability through various programs, including habitat restoration, wildlife conservation, and community education.

With nearly 165 miles of recreational roads and trails, the Conservancy provides access to the Island's wildlands, offering opportunities for hiking, camping, and eco tours. Their long-term initiative, Operation Protect Catalina Island, aims to enhance safety and resilience against wildfires while repairing ecosystems and safeguarding native species.

Catalina Adventure Tours

HistoryCatalina Adventure Tours began over 35 years ago when the first glass bottom boat was built to provide viewing opportunities of the island's mesmerizing undersea gardens. Buses with air-conditioning were added to provide personally narrated land trips within the city or into the interior for visiting cruise ship passengers. To improve the existing glass bottom boat trips, a bigger glass bottom boat was constructed with fish feeding capabilities from every viewing well so the passenger could feed the fish themselves right from their seats. In 1999, the Nautilus, first semi-submersible vessel of its kind made with high composite fiberglass material, was introduced. Designed with fish food torpedoes, passengers can feed the fish from each of their seats for an additional on board fee. The company also offers boat or bus charters, shore boat or water taxi services, and a variety of seasonal tours like the seal rock tours and sunset harbor cruises.SpecialtiesSightseeing tours by and or by sea. Visit the undersea gardens aboard the Glass Bottom Boat or the SS Nautilus semi-submarine equipped interactive fish feeding opportunities. Guided Inside Adventure bus tours to the Airport-in-the-Sky offer breathtaking views from the canyons and chance encounters with the wild and exotic bison roaming the island. Scenes of Catalina explores the rich, enchanting history of Avalon with a quick stop at the Catalina Island Museum. Seasonal tours in the summer are also offered like the Night Glass Bottom Boat, Sunset Dinner & Cruise, Seal Rocks Explorer, and coming soon, the Safari Island Adventure!
