So the Lavender Festival in Ojai always hits the last weekend in June right before 4th of July. Though temps start to get sizzling (and not in a good way)...unbearably hot for my taste the more...

El Pueblo De Los Angeles Historic Monument

El Pueblo de Los Angeles is the oldest section of the city of Los Angeles. It consists of nearly 30 historic buildings clustered around an old plaza. Each building has an exciting story to tell about the people of different ethnic groups who settled in the area, including the colorful Mexican marketplace on Olvera Street. In 1953 a strong effort to preserve the area resulted in the creation of a state historic park. The State of California and the County and City of Los Angeles joined together to purchase the buildings and sites around the plaza. El Pueblo de Los Angeles, referred to by locals as The Monument, is managed by the City of Los Angeles.
