At the young age of 10, Dr. Winkler had the unfortunate privilege of watching her sick brother undergo many medical treatments at Children’s Hospital of San Diego. The entire experience had a significant impact on Dr. Winkler and it was the defining moment that she knew she wanted to become a doctor in order to help people. With a focus on preventative care and healthy lifestyle choices, Dr. Winkler takes the time to educate her patients and provide them with the appropriate resources. She believes that everyone needs balance and aims to help her families find their ideal life balance. Her patients describe Dr. Winkler as easy going, understanding, and supportive. She takes the team approach with every patient. As she says it best, “Kids are the most valuable thing in your family. It is a huge responsibility that parents allow me to be a part of their lives and I find great joy in working with them.” A graduate of Creighton University School of Medicine, Dr. Winkler returned to her native San Diego to complete her residency at University of California, San Diego. She has been practicing since 1999 and brings a trained and trusted approach to her patients. Dr. Winkler is very active during her time away from the office and participates in triathlons, IRONMAN competition, and ultra-distance triathlons. One of her biggest accomplishments was completing the double IRONMAN which included a total of 281.2 miles.

Dr. Mangonon grew up in Long Beach and was surrounded by medicine at an early age, both of her grandparents were physicians. By learning about their professions, it piqued Dr. Mangonon’s interest and her grandmother, an internal medicine physician, served as her inspiration to pursue a career in medicine. Dr. Mangonon has always enjoyed working with kids and has worked with children in a variety of settings, including as a teacher in an after-school program, a camp counselor, and a nanny. Pediatrics allows her to practice her love for medicine along with her love for kids which is a fantastic combination! According to Dr. Mangonon, “I enjoy being able to watch kids grow up and experience every stage of life with them and their parents. It’s extremely rewarding that they trust me to care for them. As we grow together, our relationship grows as well. Before we know it, each visit feels like catching up with an old friend.” Dr. Mangonon focuses on being relatable, approachable and down to earth when working with her patients and their families. As a mom to a young child, she can relate to new parents well and aims to be open and develop a bond with each family. She received her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and completed her residency, and served as Chief Resident, at University of California, Irvine / Children’s Hospital of Orange County. She works with children of all ages and happily accepting new patients. Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Mangonon enjoys her time away from the office with her husband, daughter and dog as well as eating desserts, specifically anything chocolate!
