California Dental Association

Founded in 1856, the California Medical Association is an advocacy organization that works for the protection of public health and betterment of medical practices. It has more than 35,000 members in various modes of practice and specialties. The association offers compulsory vaccination services for school children and health care services for low-income group. It operates a public health department and medical school. It also works in the field of bioterrorism, emergency response, and the prevention and detection of communicable diseases. The California Medical Association Foundation supports medical students by funding their community health projects. The association organizes various practice management seminars and programs that address several public health issues, such as obesity, type-2 diabetes, antibiotic awareness, cervical cancer and ethnic disparities in health care. It maintains a location in Sacramento, Calif.
