Adults who are ready to open the door to their future come to the Bakersfield Adult School (BAS). Whether to learn English, the history and culture of the United States, strengthen their employability skills, or complete high school, adult students return to school because they know education is the key to success. Our doors first opened in 1917, and since then, well over 500,000 adult students have "walked through our doors" into their future. The Mission of Bakersfield Adult School is to enrich the lives of our students by providing opportunities for achieving personal and professional success. We have a diverse student population and serve adults with a variety of educational needs. In 2010-2011 BAS served 17, 656 students.In 2010-2011, 264 Adult Students completed their High School Diploma and 648 Adult Students earned a GED at Bakersfield Adult School.
