The company began when Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields became best friends during their dermatology residency at Stanford University School of Medicine. The doctors developed a comprehensive regimen-based treatment for mild to moderate acne that could be sold without a prescription. In addition to acne treatments, the company offers products for anti-aging, blemish treatments, skin moisturizing and enhancing. Rodan & Fields became the first prestige skincare line to exit the department store for the world of direct selling. The company is headquartered in San Francisco.
