I practice patient-centered care with an emphasis on education. Patient-centered care focuses on shared-decision making with the patient and myself, together incorporating medical recommendations with a patient’s preferences. I like to work together with my patients to come up with a treatment plan that work for them while also keeping them and their baby as safe as possible. It is important to me to keep a patient’s mental wellbeing in mind when making decisions, not just their physical wellbeing. Finally, I believe that educating patients about their diagnoses is important so that they understand what is going on with their body, why I am recommending certain treatment regimens, and how we can work together to help them have the healthiest version of their pregnancy.

As a nurse practitioner specializing in the treatment of chronic pain and substance use disorders, my practice is grounded in the unwavering belief that every patient deserves compassionate, stigma-free care. I recognize that individuals living with pain and addiction often face not only complex medical challenges but also significant societal judgment and systemic barriers to care. My role is to serve as an advocate, ally, and clinician, ensuring that patients are met with respect, dignity, and evidence-based support at every stage of their healing journey. I am committed to a harm reduction approach that prioritizes patient safety, autonomy, and incremental progress. Rather than focusing solely on abstinence, I strive to reduce risk and improve quality of life, meeting patients where they are and supporting their unique goals. Whether through safe prescribing practices, integrated behavioral health strategies, or facilitating access to community resources, I aim to empower patients with the tools and knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their health. Patient advocacy is central to my care philosophy. I actively work to dismantle the stigma that often surrounds addiction and chronic pain by promoting education, empathy, and policy change within healthcare systems and the broader community. I believe in partnering with patients, listening deeply to their lived experiences, and ensuring their voices are heard in the care planning and delivery process. Ultimately, my practice is grounded in trust, collaboration, and the belief that every person deserves access to care.
