Opportunity House is a nonprofit human service organization that has been serving southern southeast Alaska for over 30 years. They provide a range of services to individuals with developmental disabilities, adults with physical disabilities, elders, and young children who are developmentally delayed or at risk. Their programs focus on promoting independence, learning new skills, and helping individuals live in the community of their choice. Opportunity House offers an Early Learning Program for families with children aged birth to three years who have developmental delays or are at risk of developing delays. Ketchikan Pioneer's Home
Founded in 1981, Ketchikan Pioneer Home (KPH), governed by the state of Alaska, is a three-storey building for family and friends to congregate and visit. The facility can accommodate more than 45 individuals. It has over 80 employees. Ketchikan Pioneer Home is registered as an Eden home. The facility s respite care program provides 24-hour care services for up to two weeks for individuals who need short-term assistance for a scheduled period of time. It receives donations from Pioneer Auxiliary, American Legion, First Bank and Ketchikan Indian Corporation. Ketchikan Pioneer Home offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals, families, school groups, civic organizations, churches and local businesses. The facility s community volunteers assist residents with reading, group programs, outings and social visits. It also houses Fawn Mountain Elementary School.
