THE NATURE CONSERVANCY
The National Speleological Society (NSS), established in 1941, is a premier organization dedicated to the study, exploration, and conservation of caves, boasting a membership of over 8,500 individuals worldwide. With a focus on promoting cave science, preservation, and education, the NSS offers numerous opportunities for enthusiasts to engage with the underground environment through local chapters known as Grottos.
The NSS hosts annual conventions and events that bring together cavers to share knowledge and experiences, including the upcoming 2025 NSS Convention in Cobleskill, New York. Through volunteer efforts and donations, the organization advances programs aimed at protecting cave ecosystems and fostering a passionate community of cave explorers.
