Hawkhurst is an affluent village and Parish about 12 miles South East of Royal Tunbridge Wells. The village was made famous by smugglers in the mid 1700s and Barnardo's Children's Home in 1886. Also to choose from Hawkhurst Church or England School, St Ronans Prep School and Cranbrook Co Ed Grammar School with ages 13+. Nearby places to visit include 14th Century Scotney Castle, historic Sissinghurst Castle as well as Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest, a 300-acre Pinetum which contains over 12,000 trees and shrubs from across 5 continents. There are excellent road and rail links servicing the community with regular mainline services into London from nearby Staplehurst and Etchingham Station and easy access to the road network via the A21.

The abbey was dissolved in 1538, however, the village flourished and many of the oldest houses in the village date back to the 14th and 15th centuries. The characterful high street boasts a collection of wonderful houses and cottages.
