Okanagan Gleaners Society, established in 1994 by a compassionate group of individuals in the South Okanagan Valley, addresses global hunger by salvaging surplus fruits and vegetables. Moved by the sight of wasted produce amidst depressed prices, the founders envisioned a way to repurpose this abundance for the less fortunate, in alignment with their Christian beliefs.

Beginning with a humble tobacco-drying barn converted into a food-processing plant, volunteers diligently processed vegetables by hand to create dried soup mix. Since its inception, the society has grown exponentially, producing over 100 million servings of the vegetable mix that includes a variety of nutritious ingredients like cabbage, tomatoes, and split peas.

Supported solely by voluntary donations, Okanagan Gleaners remains committed to its mission of providing nourishment to those in need worldwide. The heart of the organization lies in the dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure that the vision of sharing God's abundance through food reaches the hungry and destitute.
