About Wisconsin Insurance Alliance Wisconsin Insurance Alliance ( WIA ) is a state trade association of property and casualty insurance companies. Our membership ranges from some of the largest property and casualty insurers in the country to some of the smaller Wisconsin town mutual insurance companies. The principal purpose of the WIA is our legislative program. This program is supplemented by programs dealing with public awareness, amicus curiae, and interaction with state administrative agencies including Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance. The legislative functions of the WIA include full time representation by a legislative council in Madison, appearances at hearings, and drafting of bills and amendments as appropriate. Members receive weekly legislative bulletins during the legislative session as part of the WIA's endeavor to keep members advised of what's happening in the legislative process and to solicit their input and assistance. The membership meets monthly to establish and adjust legislative positions on specific bills, as well as to discuss other matters of mutual interest. In addition to its legislative program, the WIA has an active public information program. News releases are regularly distributed to Wisconsin media, and that committee coordinates other outreach dealing with the media and public information. The WIA's amicus curiae committee monitors all appellate case law and seeks to become involved where there are matters of interest to the property and casualty insurance industry. The WIA works closely with Wisconsin Association of Mutual Insurance Companies, as well as the national insurance trades, and a broad spectrum of Wisconsin-based trade and professional organizations.
