UW Odyssey Project
The UW Odyssey Project is an award-winning program offered by the University of Wisconsin-Madison that aims to break the cycle of generational poverty through access to education. Over the past 20 years, this inspirational project has empowered more than 500 low-income adults to find their voices and pursue college degrees they never thought possible. Through a six-credit English literature course, participants engage in lively discussions and explore great works of literature, philosophy, history, and art, while also improving their writing and critical thinking skills.
The program takes a whole family approach, extending literacy and enrichment to the next generation through the Odyssey Junior program, supporting alumni on their continued journey through Onward Odyssey, serving veterans with the transition from military to civilian life through Odyssey Beyond Wars, providing Odyssey courses to students in prison through Odyssey Beyond Bars, and celebrating the stories of Odyssey elders through the Odyssey Senior program. With the support of generous donors, the UW Odyssey Project has recently reached its million-dollar match goal, ensuring the sustainability of its impactful programs for years to come.
