Most of our practice is devoted to helping debtors file bankruptcy cases. We also help clients with other debt-related problems by filing Chapter 128 petitions or negotiating debt settlements with creditors. Chapter 7. This type of consumer bankruptcy can be filed by any person or business. Although bankruptcy reform laws in 2005 changed the requirements for this type of filing, most people still qualify. We take our clients through the process of preparing to file and filing. We teach our clients about their exempt assets and how to use the bankruptcy laws to gain the maximum relief from harassing creditors. Chapter 13. This is the second most common type of bankruptcy. It is used by individuals, usually for the purpose of saving a house or car from repossession.
