Founded in 1907, the National Council on Crime and Delinquency is a nonprofit organization that works with individuals and public and private organizations to prevent and reduce crime and delinquency. The council conducts research to endorse humane, rehabilitative and gender-appropriate responses to at-risk and incarcerated women. It also conducts several local correctional programs for mentally ill juveniles. The National Council on Crime and Delinquency additionally provides adult protection services and is headquartered in Oakland, Calif. The council also organizes training sessions for the development of job skills of former prisoners. The National Council on Crime and Delinquency offers housing, meal, monitoring and addiction treatment services. It operates the Children s Research Center, which helps federal, state and local child welfare agencies in reducing child abuse. The council maintains a location in Madison, Wis.
