History

Kent Knapp first stepped into a blacksmith shop at the age of 19. Wide eyed, like a kid in a candy store, he was enamored with the technique. Cold hard steel became bright and malleable, twisting an turning, from plain bar to delicate hooks, tendrils and ribboned designs. After nearly 20 years of study, Knapp decided to make a go of his own shop. Since he opened he has created award winning projects all over Milwaukee. Replicating the work of his idol, Cyril Colnik for the Charles Allis Museum has been one of his favorite projects to date. This family owned and operated shop continues to produce custom and in house projects, shipped world wide. Joined by his children and sharing his love of blacksmithing has inspired Knapp to expand and he is currently offering classes and building a school of iron.

Anything is possible in iron. We will help you determine the best way to accomplish the perfect handcrafted piece to enhance the beauty and functionality of your home. Have a design you are dying to figure out yourself? Perfect. We offer introductory and intermediate classes. Once you've been bitten by the smithing bug, you can rent shop time and with a little guidance, create your own amazing gifts.
