Who is Marquette Community Church?A small group of Montello people had a burden to start an evangelical church in their community. This group began meeting for a Bible study in August of 1997, assisted by the Director of Church Planting and two Evangelical Free Church pastors. The group met over a year, bonding and growing together. By mid-October of 1998, they extended a call to Pastor Kirt Schmidt who accepted.The group continued to have weekly meetings developing the foundation of Marquette Community Church. August 29, 1999 Marquette Community Church held their first official service in the Montello School community room. After six months, they moved to the Montello Theatre.Irv Daggett, a very generous man in Montello, donated both land and a large sum of money which enabled Marquette Community Church to build a new facility. That facility was built through the winter of 2004, by committed members. On July 4, 2004 the first service was held in the new building.Since the beginning the church has grown significantly, even adding many young couples. Marquette Community Church has an informal and friendly atmosphere. We would love for you to join us and become a part of the family.
