Founded in 1970, Operation Fresh Start is a nonprofit organization that provides employment and training services to more than 7,000 youths and adults. The organization offers leadership development, counseling and skills training services. It administers residential construction and remodeling programs. Operation Fresh Start also provides restoration services for lands and parks and builds boardwalks and shelters. It additionally offers troubleshoot and emotional support to graduates. The organization provides services for disadvantaged youths who complete high school education. Operation Fresh Start works in partnership with the US Department of Labor, Corps Network, City of Madison Community Development Block Grant and United Way of Dane County. It is located in Madison, Wis.

Skaalen Retirement Services, located in Stoughton, Wis., is one of Dane County's largest long-term and rehabilitative care facilities. The center provides a continuum of nursing care, restorative therapy and housing options to more than 800 elderly citizens and their families every year. It is located in an over 100-acre area, and offers rehabilitative and restorative care for long- and short-term residency. The facility offers services, such as respite services, hospice care, and an over 30-bed Alzheimer s disease care unit for families with special needs. The center provides private and semi-private rooms, individual thermostats, cable television and a guest suite featuring private bath, queen-size sofa sleeper, telephone, television, microwave, refrigerator and coffeemaker.
