Theresa Hayssen, MD, FACS, is a surgeon with Ascension Medical Group. Dr. Hayssen is board-certified in both colon and rectal surgery, and general surgery. She provides surgical care to patients aged 16 years and older. Dr. Hayssen has a special interest in the surgical management of colon and rectal cancer; inflammatory bowel disease; diverticular disease; benign anorectal diseases, including hemorrhoids; pelvic floor abnormalities, including anal incontinence; minimally invasive and robotic surgery; and screening colonoscopy. Her practice concentrates on the surgical management of colon and rectal diseases, and her goal is to achieve the best possible outcome for her patients. She believes it is important to treat the disease as it relates to the health of the whole person. First is listening to and educating her patients. Sometimes the best approach is non-surgical; when surgery is needed, she strives to offer the most advanced and proven surgical option. Outside of the office, Dr. Hayssen enjoys outdoor activities - golf, tennis and spending time with her family, especially up north.
