Germantown Mutual Insurance Co

Germantown Mutual Insurance Company has been an important business in Wisconsin for more than 150 years. On April 1, 1854, the Germantown Farmers Mutual Insurance Company was established as one of the first mutual insurance companies in Wisconsin. The original officers and agents were prominent local leaders and dedicated to the development of the Germantown area. In the last few years the company has added several new lines of business, such as automobile, business owners and farm insurance. Through multiple mergers, it has acquired five other insurance companies that include City of Waukesha Mutual, Cedarburg Mutual, Lakeland Mutual, Menomonee Mutual and Retail Lumbermens Mutual. As a result of the acquisitions, Germantown has grown from a $5 million company in 1993 to nearly $37 million in written premium in 2005. Germantown Mutual Insurance Company is located in Germantown, Wis.
