Independence Living Resources, located in La Crosse, Wis., serves the health care needs of people suffering with physical and mental disabilities. It offers several programs and services that include treatment for mental illnesses, developmental and cognitive problems, and physical and learning disabilities. The center also provides other services that include treatment for brain injury, stroke, cancer, respiratory disorders, and HIV and AIDS. It specializes in various other services and programs, including accessibility and employment services, public education, benefits counseling, case management and housing programs. Its employment assistance services include assessment, assistive technology consultation, job shadowing, and assistance with applications and interviews. The center additionally organizes various programs, such as information and referrals, peer support, independent living skills training and handling nursing facility transition projects.
