Douglas County Sheriff's Department
The Douglas County Sheriff's Department has more than 90 full- and part-time officers and over 15 volunteer positions. It offers crime prevention and law enforcement services to Douglas County, Wis., which has a population of more than 40,000 residents. The department s patrol division handles incident response, traffic enforcement and accident investigations. In addition, the Douglas County Sheriff's Department is responsible for civil processes, such as writs, evictions, foreclosures, subpoenas and warrants. Its special investigations division is responsible for evidence collection and investigation of crime scene, vice, narcotics, arson, identity theft, computer crime, and sexual and child abuse cases. The department has a rescue squad that responds to traffic accidents, storms and blizzards, lost and missing persons, and water rescue and recovery. The Douglas County Sheriff's Department is located in Superior, Wis.
