Wheeling Police Department

The Wheeling Police Department provides law enforcement and crime prevention services. The department intervenes in cases of theft, burglary, homicide, sexual assault, serious crime, domestic violence and narcotics trafficking. It conducts investigations, gathers evidence, and interviews suspects, victims and witnesses. It responds to emergency and nonemergency calls for service. The Wheeling Police Department operates patrol, detectives, investigations and community outreach divisions. The department also has K-9, traffic and highway safety units. It offers neighborhood watch and Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) programs. In addition, it operates a safety town program for children between the ages of 5 and 6. The Wheeling Police Department organizes several safety-related training programs for the general public. The department is headquartered in Wheeling, W.Va.
