W V State Police Academy

The West Virginia State Police Department is a comprehensive law enforcement agency that maintains the State Police Academy, which provides assistance with the training and education of law enforcement personnel. It maintains a legal division that represents the police department in various legal matters. The West Virginia State Police Department operates a forensic laboratory that is an accredited, full-service laboratory that performs specialized examinations on evidence that is collected during criminal investigations. The department provides accurate and impartial scientific support services to several criminal justice agencies operating in the state of West Virginia. Established in 1919, the West Virginia State Police Department also provides concealed weapon permits, animal and noise violation control, domestic violence and sexual offenses prevention services.
