Valley Community Mental Health

Valley HealthCare System, located in Morgantown, W.Va., is a community mental health center that has been providing behavioral health services in West Virginia for more than 30 years. The center deals in the areas of chemical dependency, developmental disabilities and mental health. The chemical dependency section deals with adolescent outpatient, adult outpatient and residential treatment services. The developmental disabilities division serves individuals who meet the federal definition of developmental disability. The federal definition comprise persons who have mental disorders or other severe chronic disabilities that are attributable to a mental or physical disability manifested before the age of 22 and likely to continue indefinitely. The mental health services include crisis, children and adult outpatient services and supported housing.

The Valley HealthCare System offers a variety of medical care services. It provides counseling services for individuals who suffer from substance abuse and drug and alcohol addiction. The organization also provides school-based wellness and outpatient treatment programs. The Valley HealthCare System organizes a variety of recreational activities, including hiking, camping and horseback riding. It also provides a community-based residential addiction treatment program to meet the physical, social; and emotional needs of adults. The organization offers case management, residential care, employment and family support services for people with disabilities. It also provides crisis therapy, mental health care and psychiatric care services. The Valley HealthCare System is located in Morgantown, W.Va.

Incorporated in 1972 as Valley Community Mental Health Services, it does business as Valley HealthCare System, a behavioral health program. The center has received license from the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. Its developmental disabilities division serves individuals who have mental retardation or other severe, chronic disability. Based in Fairmont, W.Va., Valley HealthCare System's crisis services comprises three different components of crisis care and intervention: crisis clinic, crisis team and crisis residential unit (CRU).
