The Woods in Hedgesville, W.Va., is a mountain resort community offering a conference center, spa, pool and two 18-hole golf courses. It is located approximately 90 minutes from the Washington, D.C., metro area at the northern gateway to the Shenandoah Valley. The Woods is on 2,000 acres and offers year-round recreation, dining, a wide selection of lodging and the Sleepy Creek Spa. Nearly 1,200 families own vacations homes at The Woods, but accommodations are available for short stays. The Woods offers home sites and housing styles for almost every taste and pocketbook. Previously owned cottages on heavily wooded lots are also available. Potomac Valley Properties built the resort. Guests have a choice of the Evergreen or Walden lodges, the four-bedroom Meadow cottages or the two-bedroom Pinecrest cabins. The Woods Conference Center opened in 1981 and accommodates groups of up to 100.

Wonderful golf facility. I meet up with my nephew from the DC area for 18 holes and a nice lunch. It was a two hour car ride for each of us and worth the trip, especially for my nephew who birdie...
