The Shoe Guys

History

Tylan Mayo (owner) had the idea back in 2020 while attending classes at West Virginia University. When getting sent home from campus due to the spread of Covid-19 he knew he had to do something. Cleaning sneakers was a hobby of his from childhood and videos of sneaker restoration on YouTube always intrigued him. With the extra time on hand he decided to give it a shot and try doing it as a service. Things quickly took off when Joe Campeti of Campeti's Shoe Hospital offered an internship. Campeti's (an old shoe cobbler) gave Tylan the opportunity to take over the third generation business and carry it on as Joe seeked retirement. Tylan spent about two months learning and soaking in everything that he could but found that the old school cobbler style wasn't for him. Ending on good terms , he took what he learned from Campeti and applied the knowledge to restoring modern sneaker style shoes! The idea was a huge success and The Shoe Guys continues on to this day!
