Established in 1956, Alleghenies United Cerebral Palsy is a community service organization specializing in providing direct care services for individuals with cerebral palsy and other developmental disorders. Located in Johnstown, Pa., the organization currently serves approximately 750 children, youth, adults and seniors. In addition, it offers direct care programs for a variety of other disabilities, such as spinal cord injury, autism, multiple sclerosis, quadriplegia, traumatic brain injury (TBI), diabetes and stroke, among others. The community service organization provides an array of in-home, nonmedical, daily living assistance, including personal care, range of motion, transportation and other assistance to individuals with any physical disability. Valley HealthCare System, located in Morgantown, W.Va., is a community mental health center that has been providing behavioral health services in West Virginia for more than 30 years. The center deals in the areas of chemical dependency, developmental disabilities and mental health. The chemical dependency section deals with adolescent outpatient, adult outpatient and residential treatment services. The developmental disabilities division serves individuals who meet the federal definition of developmental disability. The federal definition comprise persons who have mental disorders or other severe chronic disabilities that are attributable to a mental or physical disability manifested before the age of 22 and likely to continue indefinitely. The mental health services include crisis, children and adult outpatient services and supported housing.
