Proud tradition, unique products & delicious pizza... The story DiCarlo's Pizza can be told based on these words, which has captured the heart of the family's philosophy for over 100 years. In the early 1900's Michael DiCarlo owned and operated an Italian grocery store in Steubenville, Ohio and later extended his endeavors into the bakery business. What today is known as Original DiCarlo's Famous bread, which is still sold in many areas of the Ohio Valley. Michael, who had immigrated from Sora, Italy along with his wife and six children ran all facets of the business enterprise. Returning home to Steubenville from serving in World War II, Michael's oldest son Primo described a dish that was popular in Italy. It was a delicacy consisting of crispy bread covered with sauce and cheese and it had been sold in many of the Italian cafes. Why would you want cold cheese and cold pepperoni? Cheese is sour and crust was only half cooked.
Not your typical pizza but really good. It's a must do whenever we are back in Glen Dale/Moundsville visiting family.
