Southern Highlands Community Mental Health Center, also known as SHCMHC, offers a range of mental health care, substance abuse prevention and community support services for people who suffer from mental illnesses. The center serves Mercer, McDowell and Wyoming counties in West Virginia. It provides therapy, psychiatric and psychological care services for developmentally delayed individuals. Southern Highlands Community Mental Health Center offers 24-hour residential support, noncrisis respite care and supervision services. The center also conducts psychiatric and medication evaluations, as well as offers 24-hour nursing assistance, family intervention and follow-up services. It provides individual and group counseling on various topics, such as depression, anxiety, chronic pain and grief.
