West Mason Fire Station 9-1
West Mason Fire is a volunteer fire district formed in November 2018 through the merger of Mason County Fire Protection District 9 and Mason County Fire Protection District 16. Covering 94 square miles, the district includes areas such as Shelton Valley, Dayton, and the Skokomish Valley, and is governed by a three-member board of elected fire commissioners.
The district is committed to education, pride, and community service, with volunteer responders required to maintain the same level of training and certification as their paid counterparts. In addition to volunteer opportunities, paid positions are available, particularly during the summer for wildland firefighting and emergency medical services.
