Tukwila Police Department employs over 60 commissioned officers and more than 10 support personnel. The department provides law enforcement and crime prevention services. It operates a major crimes unit that conducts investigations, gathers evidence and interviews suspects, witnesses and victims. It intervenes in cases of theft, murder, fraud, robbery, serious assault, family violence and juvenile investigation. Tukwila Police Department organizes several crime prevention programs for the general public, school districts, citizen groups and human service organizations. The department also offers Drug Abuse Resistance Education and domestic violence awareness programs for children from 14 to 21 years. In addition, it has a chaplain department that performs weddings, funerals and memorial services. Tukwila Police Department arrests offenders and responds to emergency and nonemergency calls for service. The department is headquartered in Tukwila, Wash.
