The Valley School

History

As a founding principle, the school understands that while society's expectations will change, the basic needs of children remain the same. Valley honors the proven developmental stages of childhood and does not impose superficially accelerated academic expectations on young children. Demands placed on children to perform academically at earlier ages are not only inappropriate but have no correlation to later academic success. Rather Valley looks for challenges appropriate to the child that open the mind and foster a thirst for more learning and growth. Teachers help children in all areas of development including the cognitive, social, emotional, creative, and physical spheres. Our educational challenge is to create an exciting intellectual atmosphere while still emphasizing basic skills acquisition.

Specialties

We are a pre-kindergarten through 5th grade, independent school located in Seattle's Madison Valley. We carefully attend to the individual development of each child and encourage their innate passion for learning through intellectual exploration, imaginative thinking and the practice of kindness.
