Sonic Bloom is a captivating public art installation located at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle, WA. Comprised of five towering flowers, each measuring up to 40 feet tall, the artwork combines steel, fiberglass, custom photo voltaic cells, LEDs, sensors, and an interactive sound system to create a unique and engaging experience for visitors. The flowers emit harmonic notes as people approach, allowing for the creation of music and a sense of interactivity.
Commissioned by the Pacific Science Center and Seattle City Light's Green Up Program, Sonic Bloom serves as an iconic entry sculpture to the Science Center, extending its educational mission beyond the confines of its buildings. Designed by artist Dan Corson, the installation not only pays homage to the location on the Puget Sound but also showcases the beauty of solar art and the power of technology to enhance public spaces.
