Established in 1845, Society of St. Vincent de Paul is one of the leading charitable organizations in the world. Based in Seattle, Wash., the society offers person-to-person service to the needy and suffering in 142 countries on six continents. Its range of services includes food programs, emergency financial assistance and transportation, disaster relief and victim services. The American Cancer Society is a community-based a community-based national charitable foundation that funds medical research, educational programs and rehabilitation therapy to help eliminate cancer.
