Located inside Volunteer Park in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood, the Seattle Asian Art Museum has a large collection of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Southeast Asian, Indian, and Himalayan art. The museum's Gardner Center for Asian Art and Ideas offers public programs that explore the diversity of Asia.

When to go to the Seattle Asian Art Museum
Hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The museum is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Weekdays are generally the least crowded time to visit.

Must see/do at the Seattle Asian Art Museum
Both the Chinese and Japanese collections are extensive and provide great insights into the cultures. Also, check out the gift shop and enjoy the serene setting of Volunteer Park.

Admission to the Seattle Asian Art Museum
Admission for adults is $9​​, with a $3 discount for seniors (62+) and military members with an ID. Teens and students​ with an ID) are $5, while children 12 and younger and members of the Seattle Art Museum (SAM) are free. Group rates are available, and you can arrange private tours with at least three weeks of advance notice.

Parking and public transportation at the Seattle Asian Art Museum
Parking is free in Volunteer Park in a lot adjacent to the museum. King County Metro bus 49 stops about three blocks from the museum.

Food at the Seattle Asian Art Museum
The museum doesn't offer food. Head over to the many restaurants on Capitol Hill.

Insider tip for visitors to the Seattle Asian Art Museum
Admission to the museum is free for everyone all day on the first Thursday of the month and on the second Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. (during the Capitol Hill art walk). First Fridays are free for seniors, and on first Saturdays are free for families.
